This 90 year old dam, located on the Housatonic River between Monroe and Oxford, was built in 1918 and is only one of several “all concrete dams” in the country with a state highway on top. This program is being presented by area resident John Babina. John has collected a large quantity of historical material for this presentation. Historic slides will be shown detailing the construction of the dam using a blend of original steam derricks, ox carts, steam shovels, drag buckets and specialized saddle tank railroad engines. Registration is requested!
