South Church at 277 Main Street, one of Hartford's oldest churches dating back to 1670, is celebrating its 340th anniversary by starting a new "Solid Ground" Contemporary Worship Service in the Chapel on Sunday, September 12, at 11:00 am. Complimentary refreshments will be served at 10:30 am. Dress is casual. The new service is open to the public and handicapped-accessible.
Solid Ground service will feature the South Church Praise Band with vocals, keyboards, synthesizer, guitar, bass, and drums. According to Sheila Hodges, Director of Worship Arts, the Band will play a mix of Hillsong, New Life Worship, Passion, Matt Redman, and Chris Tomlin contemporary Christian music. The Solid Ground service will also include prayer, testimonies, a sermon by the Rev. Adam Soderberg, Senior Minister at South Church, and an invitation for participants to have a closer walk with God. Lyrics will appear on a big screen, for hands-free worship. For details, directions, and online subscriptions to the Solid Ground e-newsletter, please call the church office at 860.249.8627 or visit www.340 years new.org.
