This workshop welcomes painters of all levels of experience, with an interest in achieving dramatic and captivating oil paintings. New York artist Leah Lopez will emphasize the enduring appeal and timeless use of a “good design” developed of simplified shapes, harmonious color, paint quality, effective use of value and edges, and how these all relate to each other within a beautifully composed painting. Leah will demonstrate the profound significance of observation in order to realize similarities and elemental relationships that both simplify a painter's approach and result in compelling paintings. Through demonstrations and individualized instruction, Leah will share her creative process and the universal principle of oil painting, design, and composition that will result in dramatic and compelling paintings of still life, portrait and figure, and also translate to work in all mediums and subject matter.
Dates: Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 4pm, September 11–12
Fees: $300 for Members registered by September 4, $350 for Nonmembers and late registrations
Instructor Bio: Leah Lopez is an award winning artist whose paintings have been displayed in various national and international exhibitions including Salon International, American Women Artists, Allied Artists of America, SAS Best and Brightest, Oil Painters of America and Miniatures at The Albuquerque Museum.
