Award-winning sculptor Sue Chism will teach a five-day workshop on sculpting the horse at beautiful Foxglove Farm in Lyme. Students will work from a live, classic Percheron draft horse for 6 hours each day, allowing for plenty of time to complete a 12" to 24" sculpture. Other equine breeds and their differences will be discussed as well as some comparative animal and human anatomy. Emphasis will be placed on character, gesture, anatomy, and structure as well as basic principles of sculpting. All levels are welcome and a materials list will be provided before the workshop. Fees: $495 for Members registered by August 23, $545 for nonmembers and late registrations
Instructor Bio: Sue Chism has a BFA in sculpture from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts where she had studied with and worked for the accomplished sculptors Don Gale and Daniel Edwards. She has won the National Sculpture Society's annual figure sculpting competition (The Walter and Michael Lantz Prize) and been selected twice for their annual awards exhibition. She has received numerous commissions and her work appears in private collections throughout New England.
