The Thursday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet on September 23 at 7:00pm, at the Ossining Public Library, located at 53 Croton Avenue, in Ossining. For September, the group reads and discusses the bestseller, WHEN THE CHEERING STOPPED: THE LAST YEARS OF WOODROW WILSON, by Gene Smith. Smith's detailed account of Wilson's last years has remained the seminal work covering this important period in the life of America's 28th President for the 46 years since it was originally published in 1964. In the aftermath of the Paris peace conference, Wilson took his case for the Versailles Peace Treaty and related League of Nations on a cross-country trip to the American people. Nervous exhaustion led to a physical collapse, illness and months of isolation from the public. The U.S. Senate never ratified the treaty. Woodrow Wilson presided over many of the most sweeping changes to impact our country in the 20th century. The discussion is moderated by Collection Development Librarian, John Hawkins. Joining the discussion is free and open to all adults. Copies of the book are available at the information desk in the library. For information, please call (914) 941-2416 or visit the library's website at www.ossininglibrary.org.
